Digital Tools for Indology and Buddhist Studies in the Age of AI: Recent Developments and Future Perspectives

I gave a special lecture at the 67th Annual Conference of the Association for Indology and Study of Religion (印度学宗教学会), held at Tohoku University. The lecture covered the current capabilities of Dharmamitra across Sanskrit, Tibetan, Chinese, and Pāli, the impact of AI on the future of philology, and a case study on working with agentic AI on a re-edition of the Madhyāntavibhāgaṭīkā. The session was chaired by Naoko Nishimura (Tohoku University), with comments by Ryuta Kikuya (Koyasan University) and Jiro Sawai (Tenri University), followed by a discussion with the audience.
